ClassScape Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance
Program Evaluation
The ClassScape Assessment System is dedicated to helping the teachers and students of North Carolina by providing a quality tool to aid in the instruction and improvement of student performance. As part of our continued dedication, we are conducting a research project. The main function of our research project is a formative program evaluation of the ClassScape system. We will use the results of this project to improve the ClassScape system to better meet the needs of teachers, students, and administrators. Currently, we are focusing our evaluation on the areas of assessment theory, training, outcome and impact.
- Assessment Theory — The aim of the assessment theory evaluation is to provide the users with the logic and theory behind the use of a classroom assessment system. We are currently updating our research based program theory to provide the users with the latest research based theory and best practices on the use of classroom assessment to aid in instruction and increased student performance.
- Training — The primary goal of the training evaluation is to design new training opportunities and redesign our current training opportunities to meet the needs of our users. Much of this part of the evaluation has been completed and we are currently redesigning our current training and adding new modes of training such as webinars, moodle, and interactive web-based tutorials.
- Utilization, Implementation, and Effectiveness — The utilization and implementation of any classroom assessment system is critical to its outcome in improving instruction and student performance. We are currently investigating the different ways in which ClassScape is being utilized and implemented in the many classrooms across North Carolina. Our main research questions for this evaluation regard differences in student performance based on how the system is being used and implemented.
Our program evaluation will be ongoing for the next few months and as we collect and analyze our research we will be posting the results and findings on this webpage. Please refer back to this webpage for reports and write-ups of the results and findings.
Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance is an important aspect of any good system. As part of our commitment to the quality of the assessments, technology, items, processes, and staff of ClassScape, we are putting into place more transparency into our quality assurance techniques. Over the next few months, please refer back to this page to see how we are assuring the quality we are demanding of our system for the students and teachers of North Carolina. We will provide you with reports and changes that are and have taken place to improve ClassScape.
